Why Age and Leadership Reforms are Necessary for a Progressive Future

No Country for Old Men is a famous movie by the Coen Brothers.

Well, we could argue this is no world for young people.

This qualitative article analyses our current power structure and age-equals-knowledge model vis-à-vis the current social dynamics and rapid change.

I wish this article not to be taken literally, but rather to spur thoughts and reflections on the matter.

Historically, age has equaled wisdom.
An old human is seen as wise, a young human has a lot to learn.

This is fairly true in many cases and the reason for which humans assign positions of power to experienced people. This becomes even more factual in governmental institutions, whose decision-making is fundamental for the state of the world. For instance, the global average age of a member of parliament worldwide is 53. They are all qualified professionals, that is for sure.

Yet, in practice, it means that the fate of the world is in the hands of men who are 53 years old. That means people born in 1967: life — AND SOCIETY — was arguably…
